We're Here To Stay
April 2009
On April 30th, 2009, Chrysler LLC filed for bankruptcy, immediately ceasing all manufacturer production and narrowly escaping liquidation of its assets, relying on billions of tax dollars to stay afloat. Under the protection of federal bankruptcy law, Chrysler has forced 789 Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge dealerships out of business without recourse and protection of state franchise laws.
Unfortunately, Midway Jeep Chrysler of Framingham, MA. was one of the 789 rejected dealers. Tragically, Midway Jeep Chrysler was profitable and capable of providing jobs for 60 employees, making local, state, and federal tax payments on-time, and offering our customers quality service and competitive prices. Sadly, effective June 9th, 2009, Midway Jeep Chrysler will no longer offer the sale of new Jeeps and Chrysler nor administer warranty repairs as we have for the last 19 years.
In the face of adversity and with the support of our loyal customers, the ownership and employees have unanimously agreed to stay in business as an independent automotive retail and service facility, as we cannot afford not to pay our people in this hard economic time.
Midway Motors will continue to offer high quality, hand selected pre-owned vehicles of all makes, models, and price points. The service department will continue to demonstrate proficiently the technical skills necessary to fix all Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge products reliably for many years to come, as we maintain possession of Jeep Chrysler Dodge specialty tools. Without the over-head costs of a Chrysler franchise agreement, we look forward to offering our customers the same level of automotive care at drastically reduced prices – This translates into more savings for you, our customer. The parts department will also continue to purchase parts from factory wholesale suppliers so that we too can continue our long-standing relationships with local customers, from body shops to independent automotive repair outlets. Lastly, the collision center at Midway Motors, which for years has been crowded and constrained, will finally expand to meet its current demand. And everyone here at Midway Motors thanks you for not only the 19 years of patronage, but also the over-whelming support during these last several weeks. Your letters of support and calls of comfort have shown that compassion looms larger than misery, and we will not give up, as others like Chrysler have abandoned us. We will close the door on Chrysler, move forward together, and open another door of prosperity and hope.
Thank you with all my heart,
Nai Nan Ko Jr & Ko Family General Manager & Family Ownership
